2. Abandoned in the Nigerian Forest

A mentally and physically disabled boy named Bello was abandoned by his parents in the Nigerian forest at the age of 6, and a group of chimpanzees stepped up to the plate to take care of him. Throughout the period of a year and a half, the boy was nursed as if he were one of them and eventually began walking and behaving just like his animal guardians. In 1996, when hunters stumbled across the boy, they couldn’t believe what they saw. He had all of the characteristics of a primate, and he even had the same gait as the chimps and would walk on two feet while dragging his hands on the ground.

He was sent to the Tudun Maliki Torrey home in Kano to be rehabilitated, but he was unable to readapt. He reportedly would leap around his dormitory at night, clap his hands over his head, and throw and smash things. Attempts to help him regain his human-like characteristics came to an end in 2005 when he reportedly passed away.
