3. Dina Sanichar Was the ‘Wolf Boy’

Dina “Wolf Boy” Sanichar was discovered in 1867 after a group of hunters thought they had discovered a wild animal sleeping inside of a cave in India. After smoking the creature out of the dark hiding spot, they were alarmed to discover it was actually a young boy who appeared to be just 6-years-old. They took him to Sikandra Mission Orphanage in Agra where it was presumed he had been living with a pack of wolves for most of his life. Missionaries dedicated countless years to attempting to rehabilitate Wolf Boy, who at that point was walking on all fours, gnawing on bones, and eating raw animal meat rather than cooked food. Some believe Wolf Boy’s real life was used as inspiration for the character Mowgli in Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book.
