Olympic Athletes CAUGHT CHEATING!

Olympic athletes train hard to become the best. But sometimes no matter how hard they train it’s not enough, so they try to gain an advantage through other means.
Here are 10 Olympic Athletes CAUGHT CHEATING!

1. Female luge team
At the 1968 Grenoble games, the east German luge team won both gold and silver medals, they raised suspicions because they would arrive just before their runs and leave quickly after. Officials found they had been chemically heating the rails of the sleds to reduce friction and they were disqualified.

2. 117 Russian athletes
After the 2014 winter games in Sochi, the Russian government was accused of faking the Russian athlete’s drug tests and consequently banned from all sporting events. One day before the summer games in Rio the ban was lifted on all but the original 117 offenders.

3. Michelle smith
At the 1996 Atlanta games Michelle became the first female Irish athlete to win gold at the Olympics. However, she was banned later that year after they discovered she’d been using alcohol to tamper with her urine samples.she was allowed to keep her medals as only the post-Olympic tests were positives.

4. Ben Johnson
Probably one of the most infamous cheaters, Ben was caught using steroids in the 1988 Seoul games after winning gold and breaking a world record. He didn’t learn the lesson though, as he was caught again in 1993 and banned for life.

5. Dora Ratjen
This female high jumper won gold and broke the world record in the 1938 European athletics championship. Though later fell from grace when it was discovered that Dora was a man. He was arrested for fraud and forced to change his name to Heinrich, return his medals, and never participate in a female sporting event again.

6. BADminton teams
At the 2012 London games, 8 women from 3 different countries were caught purposely losing games to gain a more favorable position in the next round. China started it by losing to Denmark to avoid facing china’s second team in the next round, Indonesia and South Korea followed suit to thwart their plans.
All teams were disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior.

7. Boris Onischenko
At the 1976 summer games in Montreal, in a fencing competition against Britain, officials started investigating after complaints that Boris had won a point without making contact. In fencing, the “foil” or sword requires a force of 0.75kg on the tip to complete a circuit, Boris’s foil had been manipulated so he could complete the circuit at will.he was disqualified, banned and stripped of all medals.

8. Cameron Van Der Burgh
At the 2012 London games, Cameron won gold and broke the world record in the 100m breaststroke final. However, he admitted to taking extra dolphin kicks, using 3 instead of 1 that’s permitted. He has been allowed to keep the medal and record although in future events this practice will be sanctioned.

9. Madeline de Jesus
This track and field athlete got injured in her long jump event and couldn’t participate in her teams 4 by 400 relay qualifier rather than fail her team she secretly got her identical twin sister to compete for her. However, when the chief coach found out he removed the team from the event.

10. Marion Jones
Marion made the history books by winning three gold and 2 bronze medals at the 2000 Sydney games. Marion denied allegations of possible steroid use until 2007 when she admitted to have been using steroids well before the Sydney games. She was sentenced to 6 months in prison and stripped of all medals.
